The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched SPREE 2025—a six-month amnesty scheme running from July 1 to December 31, 2025. Approved during ESIC’s 196th meeting chaired by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in Shimla, the initiative allows unregistered employers and employees, including contract and temporary workers, to enroll without facing retrospective dues or inspections.

Digital Registration Without Penalties or Backdated Dues
SPREE 2025 simplifies the registration process by allowing employers to digitally register through ESIC’s official portals. Key highlights include:
- Registration will be effective from the date declared by the employer.
- No contributions or benefits will be applicable retrospectively.
- No inspections or demands will be made for records predating registration.
By waiving these usual barriers, ESIC aims to encourage maximum participation and voluntary compliance.
A Lifeline for Contract and Casual Workers
The scheme is especially focused on including workers from unorganized sectors—such as contract staff, daily wagers, and casual labourers—within the ESIC framework. Once registered, these workers become eligible for a range of ESIC benefits, including medical care, maternity benefits, and financial support in case of accidents, sickness, or death.
Nationwide Outreach and Awareness Campaigns
To ensure SPREE 2025 reaches the ground level, ESIC has instructed all regional and sub-regional offices to actively promote the scheme. Field officers will organize:
- Seminars in industrial hubs,
- Public awareness drives in local languages,
- Help desks at key registration points,
- Documentation of outreach efforts for monitoring.
These activities will be overseen directly by the Regional Directors, ensuring uniform execution across the country.
Strengthening India’s Social Security Landscape
SPREE 2025 is a progressive step toward universal social security. By removing legal and financial disincentives, ESIC aims to bring thousands of previously uncovered establishments and workers under the protective ambit of the ESI Act. The scheme is expected to strengthen India’s labour welfare ecosystem and build a more inclusive safety net for workers.
