In a significant milestone for regional skill development, the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), in partnership with the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), Bokaro, on July 25, 2025, announced the successful completion of their joint initiative that trained and empowered 600 young individuals from mining-affected areas of Jharkhand.
The initiative culminated with a special placement drive, where several top industry players extended job offers to the newly certified Multi Skill Technicians, reflecting the success of the program in aligning local youth with employment-ready technical skills.
Launched through an MoU in July 2024, the 18-month training program focused on building technical capacity through a 600-hour NSQF-compliant “Multi Skill Technician (Electrical)” course, along with a 150-hour Remote Help Desk Technician training module. ESSCI established fully equipped training centers in Bokaro, offering state-of-the-art facilities, hands-on experience, and access to essential resources.
The placement drive saw enthusiastic participation from major companies in the electronics and allied sectors, validating the industry relevance and employability of the program graduates. The initiative also emphasized self-reliance, with a 70% placement mandate that includes both wage and self-employment opportunities.
Mr. Saleem Ahmed, Officiating Head of ESSCI, hailed the initiative as a model for transformative impact. “This partnership with DMFT is a clear demonstration of how targeted skill development can drive transformation,” he said. “We’re not just training individuals—we’re opening pathways to sustainable livelihoods.”
The DMFT, Bokaro, played a crucial role in the on-ground implementation and monitoring of the project, ensuring it was rooted in local needs and executed with accountability.
This collaboration is being seen as a replicable model for high-impact partnerships between skilling institutions and regional development bodies, in alignment with the national goal of building a ‘Skilled India’ and fostering inclusive economic growth.
