Fazilka, Punjab: Fazilka is set for significant transformation as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated multiple development projects across sectors, aimed at improving roads, marketplaces, electricity, irrigation, flood control, education, and urban amenities. The state-level event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, reflecting strong public interest in the region’s growth.
The state government’s targeted initiatives aim to ensure that border areas like Fazilka also benefit from modern infrastructure and development, improving the quality of life for every citizen.
Roads and Bridges Receive Major Boost
Under the new development plan:
- 59 new bridges and link roads will be built at a cost of Rs 34.61 crore.
- 34 km of link roads will be widened for Rs 22.43 crore.
- Repair and maintenance of 107 km of existing link roads will cost Rs 25.86 crore, while 90 km of other roads will receive Rs 29.66 crore.
- 13 old bridges will be upgraded at Rs 5.60 crore.
These projects are designed to enhance connectivity in Fazilka, reduce travel time, and support economic activities in both urban and rural areas.

Grain Markets and Road Infrastructure Modernization
The government is also investing in upgrading grain markets (mandis) and essential routes:
- Rs 7.36 crore allocated for storage, sheds, and platform improvements in mandis.
- Renovation of 11.23 km of the Abohar-Fazilka road at Rs 9.63 crore.
- Improvements in focal points like Rana Road and irrigation water channels.
These initiatives aim to enhance trade efficiency, improve market access for farmers, and strengthen supply chains.
Irrigation and Flood Control Projects Strengthen Agriculture
- Border villages will benefit from underground pipelines worth Rs 2.45 crore for better irrigation.
- Flood protection projects along the Satluj River and surrounding areas are approved for Rs 7.50 crore, safeguarding homes, fields, and infrastructure.
Farmers will also receive reliable electricity supply from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, ensuring uninterrupted farming operations.
Education, Health, and Community Empowerment
CM Mann highlighted the government’s focus on education and skill development. He shared the inspiring story of Satnam Kaur from Dona Nanka village, who excelled academically and became a veterinary doctor with government support. Her success symbolizes the broader commitment to empowering local youth through education.
Additionally, 31 lakh families will receive insurance coverage, offering benefits up to Rs 10 lakh, further securing livelihoods.

With road construction, flood prevention, market modernization, education, irrigation, and electricity projects, Fazilka is witnessing a comprehensive development plan. These projects collectively aim to:
