Bhopal: The Central Government has approved a nutrient-based subsidy (NBS) on phosphate and potash fertilizers worth over ₹41,533.81 crore for the Kharif season 2026, a decision aimed at directly benefiting farmers. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for this farmer-centric initiative.
Significant Increase in Fertilizer Subsidy
CM Mohan Yadav highlighted that the approved subsidy amount for 2026 is ₹4,317 crore higher than last year, ensuring that fertilizers remain affordable and accessible to farmers despite global price fluctuations and international market challenges.
“The Central Government has prioritized the welfare of farmers, ensuring that fertilizers are available at subsidized, reasonable rates without adding any financial burden,” said CM Yadav.

Strengthening Farmer Income and Productivity
The subsidy decision is expected to balance agricultural input costs, improve farmers’ income, and enhance production capacity. CM Yadav emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is observing 2026 as the “Kisan Kalyan Varsh” (Farmer Welfare Year), making such measures particularly beneficial for the state’s farmers.
He added that the state government continues to prioritize farmer welfare by promoting modern agricultural techniques and conducting agriculture festivals and equipment exhibitions to educate and train farmers.
Technology and Training Initiatives
As part of the state’s farmer-centric programs, CM Yadav highlighted initiatives including:
- Advanced agricultural exhibitions to demonstrate modern farming tools
- Training programs to raise awareness and improve productivity
- Promotion of modern farming techniques and digital solutions to enhance efficiency

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav thanked PM Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for approving the nutrient-based subsidy, calling it a “remarkable and timely decision” that directly benefits farmers in Madhya Pradesh during the Kharif season 2026.
