Hyderabad: Proteek Kumar Chakraborty has assumed charge as Director (Finance) of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Schedule ‘A’ CPSE under the Department of Atomic Energy and a Miniratna public sector company.
Prior to this elevation, he was serving as Additional General Manager (Finance) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), where he led various strategic financial functions across manufacturing, internal audit, project execution, and corporate finance.
Seasoned Finance Leader with Regulatory and Industry Expertise
Mr. Chakraborty’s appointment brings over 27 years of rich and diversified experience in financial management, auditing, regulatory compliance, and corporate strategy. He is a member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi.
Between July 2021 and January 2024, he held the Chief (Finance) role at the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) — a Joint Secretary-level position, where he was deeply involved in the issuance of tariff orders, financial modelling, licensing, and regulation framing in the Indian power sector.
Key Contributions and Recognitions
During his tenure at CERC, Mr. Chakraborty also represented India on the global stage. He was a member of the Ministry of Power’s taskforce on “One Sun One World One Grid” (OSOWOG) — a visionary initiative to build a global interconnected electricity grid.
Throughout his career at BHEL, he was recognized with multiple productivity and performance awards, highlighting his commitment to financial excellence and operational efficiency.
