Former DGP Abhay has been appointed as Chairman of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). The General Administration and Public Grievance Department, in a notification issued on Wednesday, stated that the tenure of appointment of the retired IPS officer Abhay will be for a period of five years from the date of taking charge of the post or till he attains the age of 62 years whichever is earlier.
“The Salaries and allowances payable to Shri Abhay, IPS(Retd.), as Chairman, Odisha Staff Selection Commission and conditions of service by which he will be governed, shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of the Chairman and Members) Rules, 1995 as amended from time to time,” the GA&PG Department notification further read.
IPS officer Abhay, 1986-batch IPS officer, was the DGP of Odisha from November 20, 2019 to December 31, 2021. Post retirement, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appointed him as the Chairman of State Task Force for Narcotic Drugs-related Issues, in the rank and status of Chief Secretary.
