The case originated when Congress leader Mr. Abdullah Haji Ibrahim (Ibhala Sheth) visited then-SP Mr. Kuldeep Sharma at the Naliya police station regarding a case. During the meeting, Mr. Sharma allegedly insulted Mr. Ibrahim, used abusive language, and called his fellow officers, who then assaulted him, causing injuries.
Following the incident, advocate Mr. M.B. Sardar filed a complaint in the Chief Judicial Court of Bhuj against Mr. Sharma and four other police officers. Over the years, two of the accused, Mr. Bishnoi and Mr. B.N. Chauhan, have passed away, while another accused, Mr. Girish Vasavada, has also been found guilty in the case.
After decades of legal proceedings, the Bhuj Sessions Court has now ruled in favor of the prosecution, sentencing Mr. Kuldeep Sharma to three months of imprisonment for his role in the assault.
