New Delhi: In a significant step toward inclusive education and equal opportunity, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched a new initiative to provide free online coaching for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and other disadvantaged sections of society across India.
This initiative aims to support students in preparing for competitive examinations, including the Civil Services Examination, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Examination, and Banking Examinations, thereby empowering them to access quality education and secure employment opportunities.
Collaboration with Physics Wallah Foundation
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Physics Wallah (PW) Foundation to provide free online coaching to 5,000 aspirants annually from across India, including the State of Odisha.
Under this MoU, eligible candidates gain access to a comprehensive suite of preparatory resources, including –
- Structured online courses (live and recorded classes)
- Test series and previous year question papers
- Study material and mentorship programs
- Doubt-solving support and personalized counselling
The selection of beneficiaries is merit-based and conducted through a dedicated online portal, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
Focus on Social Inclusion and Equal Opportunity
The initiative aligns with the Ministry’s broader objective of promoting social inclusion and equal access to competitive exam preparation, particularly for students from historically disadvantaged communities. By offering structured guidance and mentoring free of cost, the program seeks to enhance employment opportunities and level the playing field for marginalized aspirants.
It is notable that no similar MoU has been signed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for Scheduled Tribe students under this initiative, emphasizing the current focus on SC and OBC beneficiaries and those under the PM CARES for Children Scheme.
Objective of the Program
Through this initiative, the Ministry aims to –
- Provide free, high-quality preparatory resources for competitive exams
- Support candidates from disadvantaged communities in securing government and public sector jobs
- Promote social equity and empowerment through education
This step reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and bridging educational gaps for historically underrepresented groups.
