New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has signed a tripartite concession agreement with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) to establish a Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant at KCDC area, Haralakunte Village, Bengaluru South Taluk. The agreement was formalized on October 16, in the presence of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
18 Acres of Land and 300 TPD of Waste for Green Energy
Under the terms of the agreement, GBA will provide 18 acres of land on a permissive use basis for the project. BSWML will supply 300 tons per day of segregated municipal solid waste, which will be processed to produce 12.6 tons per day of CBG.
Additionally, the plant is expected to generate around 22 tons of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) daily, contributing to sustainable agriculture and promoting a circular economy.

25-Year Concession Period
The concession agreement will remain valid for 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project. This long-term partnership underscores a strong commitment to green energy generation and efficient waste management practices in Bengaluru.
Supporting National Clean Energy and Waste Management Goals
This initiative marks a significant step towards sustainable urban development, aligning with the Government of India’s SATAT initiative (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The project aims to reduce carbon emissions, improve waste segregation and utilization, and promote renewable fuel usage in urban transportation.
