A ‘Navratna’ Public Sector Undertaking under the Indian Ministry of Railways, the Container Corporation of India Ltd. or CONCOR, as we know it, was incorporated in March 1988 under the Companies Act. It started operating in November 1989, taking over the existing network of seven Inland Container Depots (ICDs) from the Indian Railways to profitably satisfy the customer’s needs for high- quality cost-effective logistics services.
A SUCCESSFUL VENTURE
The company began on a humble note and today, it is an acknowledged market leader with the largest network of 79 ICDs/ CFSs in India extending scheduled and on-demand rapid rail and road services between the hinterland and ports, as also between major metros.
However, CONCOR does not just limit to that. In addition to delivering inland transport by rail for containers, it has also stretched to cover management of ports air cargo complexes, and establishing cold-chains. CONCOR has and will continue to play the role of endorsing containerization of India by virtue of its modern rail wagon fleet, customer-friendly commercial practices, and widely used Information Technology. It operates three core businesses: cargo carrier & terminal operator, warehouse operator & MMLP operation.
MISSION AT A GLANCE
CONCOR’s mission is to join its community partners and stakeholders to make it a company of outstanding quality, by providing responsive, cost-effective, efficient, and reliable logistics solutions to its customers through synergy with community partners and ensuring profitability and growth.
Moreover, CONCOR remains firmly committed to its social responsibility and has consistently proved worthy of the trust reposed in it.
ACTIVE DURING THE PANDEMIC
During these hard-hitting times of the Covid19 pandemic, when practically everything – from health to commerce – came to a halt, CONCOR adhered to its people’s needs and did not stop working for a single day. It ensured uninterrupted Supply Chain Logistics for all essential commodities.
