In a significant boost to connectivity, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has approved the launch of intra-state helicopter services. These will operate under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and promoting tourism and economic activity across the state.
The services will connect key airports, helipads, and airstrips across three sectors covering major cities, spiritual centers, and tourist hubs including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Bandhavgarh, Pachmarhi, and many more. The collaboration with private operators is designed to ensure affordability, accessibility, and sustainability.
Sector-Wise Route Distribution
- Sector 1: Focuses on Western and Central MP, covering Indore, Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Bhopal, among others.
- Sector 2: Connects key heritage and forest sites like Sanchi, Kuno, Orchha, and Pachmarhi.
- Sector 3: Includes wildlife and pilgrimage hubs such as Bandhavgarh, Amarkantak, Khajuraho, and Rewa.
This initiative is expected to enhance inter-city travel for tourists, business professionals, investors, and locals, thereby promoting economic development and creating employment opportunities.
Powering the Future: Cost Approvals for Thermal Power Stations in Sarni and Chachai
The Cabinet also approved revised cost estimates for two major thermal power projects aimed at strengthening the state’s energy infrastructure.
Satpura Thermal Power Station, Sarni
- Revised Cost: Rs. 11,678 crore
- Capacity: 660 MW
- Funding Model: 20:80 equity-debt ratio
- State Equity: Rs. 684.53 crore
- Remaining Share: Allocated through 2030-31 via departmental budget
Amarkantak Thermal Power Station, Chachai
- Revised Cost: Rs. 11,476.31 crore
- Capacity: 660 MW
- Funding Model: 20:80 equity-debt ratio
- State Equity: Rs. 699.90 crore
- Remaining Share: Distributed from 2026-27 to 2030-31

Strengthening Medical Education: 354 New Senior Resident Posts Approved
In a move to align with the National Medical Commission (NMC) standards, the Cabinet approved the creation of 354 new Senior Resident posts in 13 autonomous government medical colleges. These posts will be in non-clinical and para-clinical faculties.
Colleges to Benefit:
Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Satna, Vidisha, Ratlam, Khandwa, Shahdol, Shivpuri, Datia, and Chhindwara.
This step will:
- Ensure seamless functioning of medical colleges under NMC norms
- Enable postgraduates to complete their senior residency within the state
- Strengthen the availability of qualified medical educators
This development supports the state’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and address the shortage of skilled professionals in the education and health sectors.
