This major welfare move ensures that recipients of gallantry awards from the Army, Navy, and Air Force can travel free of cost across Indian Railways, along with one companion. The decision, confirmed by defence officials, also includes benefits for families of posthumous awardees.
Alongside this, Indian Railways has introduced a new employment framework to support ex-servicemen and Agniveers in transitioning to civilian careers.

The government has introduced a lifetime complimentary railway travel scheme for gallantry award winners across all three armed forces.

- Valid until remarriage
- Parents eligibility:
- Only if the recipient was unmarried at the time of death
