Speaking before the final of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, he emphasized that the league is providing a strong platform for the state’s youth.
Demand for Two Teams from Uttar Pradesh
Highlighting the state’s large population of over 25 crore, Mr. Adityanath urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider allotting at least two teams to Uttar Pradesh. He said this would create more opportunities for local players to showcase their skills at the national level.
Expanding Sports Infrastructure Across the State
The Chief Minister outlined the extensive efforts being made to promote sports in Uttar Pradesh. He informed that the international cricket stadium under construction in Varanasi, inspired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, will be completed by the end of this year, with 70 percent of the work already finished. Similar world-class stadiums are being built in Ayodhya and Gorakhpur, while a dedicated Sports University is coming up in Meerut.
Mr. Adityanath said that playgrounds are being developed in every village, mini stadiums in every block, and large stadiums in every district. To nurture young talent, retired players are being appointed as coaches to guide the emerging generation of athletes.
Boosting Sports Culture in Uttar Pradesh
The Chief Minister lauded the enthusiasm of the players and spectators during the final clash between Kashi Rudras and Meerut Mavericks. He met both team captains, interacted with players, and took photographs with the trophy. He also encouraged stadium staff and thanked them for their dedication.
As he entered the stadium, chants of “Yogi-Yogi” echoed across the stands, reflecting the excitement of the crowd.
