Lucknow: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday emphasised that inner spiritual strength and mental purity form the bedrock of global unity, peace and trust. Speaking at the state-level inauguration of the Brahma Kumaris’ meditation (Rajyoga) initiative for global unity and trust in Lucknow, she said that true and lasting trust is possible only when the mind is peaceful, thoughts are holistic and emotions remain pure.

The programme was organised by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, and attended by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with senior Rajyogis, trainers and participants from across the state.

‘Strengthened Soul Is the Foundation of Global Unity’

Addressing the gathering with an “Om Shanti,” President Murmu highlighted that India’s ancient civilisation has always shared with the world the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the belief that the entire world is one family.

“In a world facing multiple challenges, this message becomes even more relevant,” she said, expressing confidence that the Brahma Kumaris’ initiative for meditation and peace would contribute significantly to nurturing unity, harmony and trust.

She reiterated that a calm and stable mind naturally sows the seeds of peace in society, which ultimately strengthens efforts towards world peace. “A strong soul has always been the foundation for realising the concept of global unity,” she said.

Government Efforts Toward Inclusivity and Value-Based Society

President Murmu noted that the Government of India has been steadily working to build a more inclusive, peaceful and value-driven society.

She cited major initiatives such as:

  • Promotion of yoga and meditation globally, including the UN recognition of International Yoga Day
  • Value-based learning and life-skills education included under the National Education Policy
  • Mission LiFE, which encourages environmentally responsible behaviour
  • Schemes supporting women empowerment, social inclusion and self-reliance

“These efforts reflect a broader vision of nurturing humanity through values, dialogue, trust and spiritual awareness,” she said.

‘Future of Humanity Lies in Spiritual Consciousness’

Referring to the G20 Summit hosted by India in 2023 under the theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’, the President said that global initiatives are now echoing the need for unity and shared responsibility.

She also highlighted the paradox of modern progress. “Despite unprecedented advancement in technology, AI, digital transformation and space research, society is witnessing rising stress, insecurity, loneliness and mistrust,” she said.

She urged people to embark not only on external journeys of success but also on inner journeys of self-realisation. “The Brahma Kumaris have taken this noble step by making the process of self-awareness easier through Rajyoga,” she said.

‘Peace and Joy Lie Within, Not Outside’

President Murmu said that every human longs for trust, but trust thrives only in a mind filled with purity and balance.
When we pause for a moment and engage in dialogue with ourselves, we realise that peace and joy do not lie in external objects, but within us,” she said.

Once the inner consciousness awakens, values like love, compassion, brotherhood and unity naturally become part of life, she added.

A calm mind lays the foundation for world peace. A strong soul turns the concept of global unity into reality.”

‘Awaken Inner Peace and Become Messengers of Unity’

The President praised the Brahma Kumaris for their work in promoting world peace, human values, women empowerment, spiritual awakening and meditation.

Urging people to awaken the light within, she said:
Let us awaken peace within ourselves, infuse our thoughts with trust, and express unity through our actions.”

She acknowledged that the Brahma Kumaris have been spreading positivity across India—not only in Lucknow and Mount Abu but through thousands of centres in villages and towns—taking the message of peace, love and harmony to the masses.

Governor Praises Brahma Kumaris’ Role in Spiritual Transformation

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Anandiben Patel said she felt proud to be part of such a spiritually significant event. She described the Brahma Kumaris as the world’s largest spiritual organisation led by women, and a remarkable example of transformative feminine leadership.

She noted that the institution is active in 137 countries, promoting meditation, peace, love and spiritual knowledge.

At a time when the world faces distrust, conflict, stress and moral decline, Rajyoga meditation provides individuals with a path to self-purification and inner stability, she said. “The positive energy born through meditation not only changes thoughts and behaviour but also influences relationships, surroundings and society.”

Event Highlights: Lamp-Lighting, Cultural Performances, and Messages of Peace

The event began with President Murmu lighting the ceremonial lamp. She handed over a holy Kalash to the Brahma Kumaris sisters and presented the organisation’s flag to the brothers.

Students performed traditional cultural programmes, and Rajyogini Brahma Kumari Radha delivered the welcome address.
Rajyogi Brahma Kumar Nathamall called upon people to adopt Rajyoga as a means to strengthen global unity and remove inner vices.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and senior spiritual leaders from Mount Abu and Lucknow were also present.
