New Delhi: In a major step towards enhancing security of the newly constructed Common Central Secretariat (CCS) buildings in the national capital, the government has approved the recruitment of 735 additional personnel for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). These personnel will be deployed under the Central Government Building Security (CGBS) unit, which is responsible for securing central government buildings in New Delhi.
The announcement comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first CCS building on August 6. Eventually, 10 CCS buildings are planned as part of the restructured central administrative zone.
CCS Project and Security Preparedness
According to government sources, the newly recruited CISF personnel will be initially deployed in Buildings No. 1, 2 and 3 of the CCS complex. As the remaining buildings are completed and operationalized, additional CISF staff will be inducted accordingly to meet the growing security needs.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also sanctioned 200 more CISF personnel for securing other high-value installations, including the extension office of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Talkatora Stadium, and Sushma Swaraj Bhawan located in Chanakyapuri, Delhi.
With the latest approvals, the total sanctioned strength of the CGBS unit will rise to approximately 5,000 personnel, significantly enhancing its capacity to manage security for key government offices and VIP zones.
