Posted as Principal CCIT (OSD) Until Final Orders
Until their formal posting orders are issued, all five officers have been designated as Principal CCIT (Officer on Special Duty – OSD) in their respective regions. These temporary postings ensure smooth continuity of operations and alignment with the CBDT’s administrative restructuring goals.
Significance of the Apex Scale Promotion
The Apex Scale is one of the most prestigious ranks in Indian civil services. Officers in this scale typically lead regional income tax zones or hold key policy positions at the national level. Their elevation reflects not just seniority but exemplary performance, leadership, and policy execution capability over decades of service.
According to senior officials, these appointments are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen leadership within the Income Tax Department and further enhance taxpayer services, enforcement capacity, and compliance frameworks.
