GRSE Wins BCC&I Social Leadership Award 2025 for “Akanksha – Aiming High” CSR Initiative in Kolkata

Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) has been honoured with the BCC&I Social Leadership Award 2025 in the Healthcare & Empowerment – Holistic Development category. The award recognises organisations that demonstrate outstanding leadership in social development and sustainable inclusive growth.

The award was presented at the Fourth CSR Conclave & Social Leadership Awards 2025, organised by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I). Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager (HR&A) of GRSE, received the award from Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, widely regarded as the Father of Indian CSR and Sustainability, at a ceremony held at Taj City Centre, Kolkata, on December 19, 2025.

“Akanksha – Aiming High”: Empowering Underprivileged Children

GRSE’s recognition comes from its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, “Akanksha – Aiming High”, which focuses on the holistic development of underprivileged children in Khidderpore, Kolkata. Implemented in partnership with CRY – Child Rights and You, the programme has made a meaningful impact in areas such as:

  • Education: Providing quality learning opportunities and academic support to underprivileged children.
  • Health & Nutrition: Ensuring access to healthcare services, regular health check-ups, and nutritional support.
  • Psychosocial Well-being: Offering counselling, mentorship, and emotional support for children’s overall growth.
  • Life Skills & Community Empowerment: Building essential life skills and engaging communities to create a supportive environment for children.

The initiative aims to provide children not only with immediate support but also long-term tools to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
