Kolkata: In a spectacular celebration of knowledge, heritage, and nation-building, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) successfully concluded the 2025 edition of its flagship inter-school quiz competition ‘KWIZDOM’ at Kala Mandir Auditorium, Kolkata, on Saturday.
The initiative, part of GRSE’s educational outreach programme, saw over 50,000 students from more than 100 schools across Kolkata and Howrah engage in spirited intellectual competition from July 22 to August 16, making this year’s event the largest and most impactful edition to date.
Celebrating Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Maritime Legacy & India’s Youth Potential
Themed around India’s glorious legacy, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, maritime history, and shipbuilding excellence, KWIZDOM 2025 aimed to ignite curiosity and national pride in students from Classes VIII to X. It not only tested participants’ knowledge but also aimed to instill values aligned with the Panch Pran vision laid out by the Hon’ble Prime Minister – pride in roots, unity, national development, freedom from colonial mindset, and a deep sense of national duty.

Fierce Final Round Crowns MP Birla School as Winner
After rigorous school-level preliminaries, six top schools qualified for the final–

- MP Birla School, Kolkata
- Central Modern School, Kolkata
- Birla High School, Kolkata
- The New Town School, Kolkata
- BDM International School, Kolkata
In an intense battle of wits, MP Birla School emerged as the KWIZDOM 2025 Champion, followed by Birla High School (First Runner-up) and Central Modern School (Second Runner-up).

The grand finale and awards ceremony were graced by Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), Chairman & Managing Director, GRSE, who addressed the gathering with pride and optimism.
“This year, over 50,000 students from 100+ schools turned KWIZDOM from a competition into a movement powered by curiosity, heritage, and pride,” he said. “From India’s maritime history to our march towards self-reliance, KWIZDOM celebrates the knowledge that shapes our future. Victory lies not only in winning – but in daring to compete.”
Joining him were senior GRSE officials including Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar, IN (Retd.), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), and Shri Bishambhar Newar, Chairman, Taaza TV.
Format and Execution: A Model of Engagement
The contest began with school-level rounds, where the top six scorers from each institution were identified. Each school then nominated a three-member team for the inter-school phase. Quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final were conducted on August 16 at the Kala Mandir Auditorium, providing a high-energy platform for showcasing academic excellence.
All participating students received e-certificates in recognition of their effort and enthusiasm.
