Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel announced major development-centric initiatives during the state-level Independence Day function in Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. One of the key announcements included the launch of Regional Vibrant Summits aimed at promoting industrial growth in towns and villages across the state.
Holistic Urban Development Plans
As part of a comprehensive approach to urban planning, the CM stated that 100 town-planning (TP) schemes will be approved for small urban centers. Additionally, GIS-based development plans (DP) will be prepared for 55 towns with populations under one lakh, including Porbandar, which has recently been upgraded to a municipal corporation.
Rural Development Through Mukhyamantri Gram Utthan Yojana
To ensure balanced development in rural areas, the state government will implement the Mukhyamantri Gram Utthan Yojana. Under this initiative, Rs. 100 crore will be allocated over five years for the holistic development of taluka headquarters and village panchayats not yet merged with municipalities. The scheme aims to transform large villages into attractive alternatives to cities, promoting sustainable infrastructure development and enhancing the quality of life for rural residents.
Agenda 2035: Roadmap for Gujarat’s Future
CM Patel highlighted that 2035 will mark 75 years since Gujarat’s formation. To achieve holistic development and pro-people governance, the state government has launched ‘Agenda 2035’, a strategic roadmap to transform Gujarat. The framework emphasizes strengthening infrastructure, empowering citizens financially and socially, preparing youth for emerging technologies, and creating an innovation-driven ecosystem. The vision is aligned with the goal of “Viksit Gujarat by 2047,” complementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
Key Development Achievements
The CM also highlighted Gujarat’s progress under national schemes: over 11 lakh houses have been provided under PM Awas Yojana, 2.90 crore citizens have received Ayushman Bharat cards, and 3.26 crore individuals benefit from free rations under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna. Gujarat has also achieved the top position in the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana with over four lakh rooftop solar installations.
Towards a Self-Reliant and Prosperous Gujarat
Mr. Patel emphasized that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, Gujarat has emerged as a model of development. Agenda 2035 focuses on “Earning Well and Living Well,” ensuring economic growth and social welfare in a balanced and sustainable manner, paving the way for Gujarat to achieve its long-term vision.
