Gandhinagar: Gujarat hosted the Regional Pre-Summit on AI for Good Governance at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra bhai Rajnikant Patel. The event was jointly organized by the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, and IIT Gandhinagar. Serving as a precursor to the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi (February 15–20, 2026), the summit brought together policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss scalable and inclusive AI solutions for governance.
Focus on Citizen-Centric AI Solutions
The conference emphasized the deployment of secure, scalable, and citizen-centric AI to accelerate digital transformation across sectors such as governance, healthcare, agriculture, fintech, and public services. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, panel discussions, and live demonstrations at the AI Experience Zone, showcasing innovative solutions developed by IndiaAI and DST Gujarat.
Key Insights from Leaders
Chief Minister Patel described AI as a transformative tool capable of enhancing quality of life, economic growth, and national security. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Harsh Rameshbhai Sanghavi referred to AI as the “new electricity” powering Gujarat’s development, while Science & Technology Minister Mr. Arjunbhai Devabhai Modhwadia highlighted initiatives including the Gujarat AI Stack and Cloud Adoption Guidelines to strengthen AI-driven governance.
Mr. Abhishek Singh, CEO of IndiaAI Mission, stated that the insights from the pre-summit would inform discussions at the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, reinforcing India’s leadership in AI innovation. Key announcements included the rollout of AI Stacks, MoU signings with global AI partners, and the implementation of the Cloud Adoption Policy 2025. The event also featured keynote sessions from industry leaders from Google Cloud, Microsoft, IBM Research, NVIDIA, Oracle, and AWS.
