Gujarat Boosts Public Transport with 151 New Buses Flagged Off by CM Bhupendra Patel

Gandhinagar: In a significant push toward modernizing public transportation in Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today flagged off 151 new Super Express S.T. buses in Gandhinagar. The initiative is part of a larger plan to add 2,063 new buses, including 100 air-conditioned buses, during the year to enhance connectivity, improve travel comfort, and expand transportation reach across the state.

Major Expansion in Line with Vision of PM Narendra Modi

The new buses were inaugurated in the presence of Minister of State for Transport Mr. Harsh Sanghavi, reflecting the government’s dedication to strengthening public mobility. The expansion aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of robust public transport and road infrastructure as critical drivers of development.

CM Bhupendra Patel highlighted the importance of providing safe, efficient, and modern transport services to even the remotest parts of Gujarat. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring reliable travel for all, with a special focus on enhancing the daily commute experience.

₹52.63 Crore Invested in 151 Super Express Buses

The 151 new buses launched today are part of a ₹52.63 crore investment and will be deployed across all districts. These Super Express buses are designed to offer comfortable and faster travel options for citizens, serving as a key addition to Gujarat’s expanding public transport network.

Over 2,000 Buses Planned for 2025 Under Public and PPP Models

In the current financial year, the Gujarat government has approved the procurement of 1,963 new buses and the operation of 100 modern AC buses under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, taking the total to 2,063 buses for deployment in 2025.

GSRTC: A Lifeline Serving 27 Lakh Daily Passengers

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) continues to play a crucial role in public mobility. Operating more than 8,000 buses daily, GSRTC covers 33 lakh kilometers and transports over 27 lakh passengers across the state.

The Corporation has maintained its commitment to public service by deploying additional buses during festivals and special events, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for citizens.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by dignitaries including Gandhinagar Mayor Smt. Meera Patel, District Panchayat President Smt. Shilpa Patel, Gandhinagar MLAs Smt. Ritaben Patel and Mr. Alpesh Thakor, Mansa MLA Mr. Jayanti Patel, Gandhinagar City President Dr. Ashish Dave, Transport Principal Secretary Mr. R.C. Meena, GSRTC Managing Director Mr. M. Nagarajan, along with senior officials and local residents.

The launch marked a key milestone in Gujarat’s journey towards a modern, reliable, and people-centric transport system.
