Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired the Chandrak Alankaran Samaroh at the Gujarat Police Academy, Karai, to felicitate 118 Gujarat Police officers and personnel awarded the President’s Medal for their exemplary service. The event was also graced by the presence of Minister of State for Home, Mr. Harsh Sanghavi, senior government and police officials, and family members of the awardees.
A Tribute to Dedication and Duty
Congratulating the medal recipients, CM Patel said that their unwavering dedication and service in challenging conditions have strengthened Gujarat’s position as a model state in law enforcement and public safety. He lauded the police force’s role in making Gujarat a leader in peace and security and acknowledged the silent yet vital support of their families.
“This recognition is not only a personal milestone but a proud moment for the entire police force and the people of Gujarat,” said the Chief Minister.

Realising the Vision of Smart Policing
Highlighting the transformation of policing under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, CM Patel stated that Gujarat is at the forefront of smart and modern policing. He listed key initiatives such as:
- CCTV-integrated Command & Control Centres
- Deployment of body-worn cameras
- Cyber AASHVAST and Cyber Safe Gujarat projects
- Use of drone surveillance technologies
He added that the induction of tech-savvy youth has significantly boosted the operational efficiency and manpower of Gujarat Police, enabling more proactive crime prevention and improved citizen trust.
Address by Minister of State for Home
Minister Mr. Harsh Sanghavi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the medal winners for their bravery and selfless service. He explained that the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for 25 years of committed service, while the Police Medal for Meritorious Service is given after 18 years of outstanding performance. These honors, he said, are a testament to their integrity, professionalism, and courage.
He noted recent success stories, such as the Gujarat Police’s efforts to recover land and assets from illegal moneylenders and return them to rightful owners, highlighting the force’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights.
