It is designed to operate as a fully automated driverless train under Grade of Automation 4 (GOA4).
Chief Minister Patel stated that the coaches will reflect Ahmedabad’s rich cultural heritage through vibrant colors and design motifs. The first of ten ordered trains for Phase-2 expansion will soon arrive in Ahmedabad after final testing and certification. The remaining nine trains will be gradually delivered over the next 5–6 months.

Phase-2 Expansion and Public Benefits
The Phase-2 extension of Ahmedabad Metro, spanning 21 kilometers, aims to meet the city’s growing demand for urban transport. Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (GMRCL) has confirmed that the new trains will help enhance operational capacity and improve passenger convenience. The metro system currently serves more than 1.6 lakh passengers daily, with annual growth rates of 30–40%.
Engineering and Technological Edge
During the inspection at Titagarh Rail Systems, Chief Minister Patel interacted with senior engineers to understand the train’s key features. The next-generation metro coaches are designed for superior maneuverability, safety, and passenger comfort. Titagarh Rail Systems, with production facilities in Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Surat, and Ahmedabad, also manufactures Vande Bharat sleeper trains and other metro trains for Indian cities.
