Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Harsh Sanghavi, launched the new Census Gujarat website (https://gujarat.census.gov.in/) today, marking a significant step toward digital governance and inclusive public welfare in the state.
The website, developed by the Directorate of Census Operations for Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, features a modern design, user-friendly navigation, and multilingual support, ensuring easy access for all users. The initiative is aimed at aligning Gujarat’s census operations with the Prime Minister’s vision of balanced development and citizen-centric governance.
CM Highlights Digital Governance and Public Welfare
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel said, “The new Census Gujarat website embodies the vision of ‘From Census to Public Welfare.’ It will enable efficient planning and implementation of welfare schemes, supporting balanced and inclusive development across the state.”
He further lauded the fully digital approach for the upcoming Census 2027, emphasizing that citizens will be able to securely submit their data online. The website also introduces a self-enumeration feature, allowing individuals to complete their census data independently and providing first-hand insights from selected districts during the pilot phase.
Preparations Underway for Census 2027
State Census Director Mr. Sujal Mayatra shared details on preparations for the 2027 Census, noting that rehearsals and testing of multiple mobile applications are already in progress. For the pre-test, selected blocks include:
- 133 blocks in Surat Municipal Corporation
- 70 blocks across 26 villages in Devgadh Baria Taluka, Dahod
- 60 blocks across 25 villages in Tankara Taluka, Morbi
The pre-test will involve trial data collection and process rehearsals from 10 to 30 November 2025.
Officials Present
The launch event was attended by Chief Secretary Mr. M.K. Das, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Avantika Singh, and senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, Gujarat.
With this initiative, Gujarat aims to make its census operations more transparent, digital, and citizen-friendly, paving the way for data-driven governance and efficient public service delivery in the state.
