Gujarat: Govt Promotes 40 IAS Officers, Including Senior Officers to Addl Chief Secy

The promotions were granted ‘in situ’, meaning the officers will continue to function in their current positions.

In a significant move, the Gujarat government announced the promotion of 40 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from various batches, effective from January 1. The promotions were granted ‘in situ’, meaning the officers will continue to function in their current positions.

Key Promotions:

  • Vatsala Vasudeva (1995 Batch) – Promoted to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). Currently serving as Managing Director of Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.
  • D Thara (1995 Batch) – Also promoted to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). She is currently the Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Other Key Promotions:

  • 2000 Batch and 2009 Batch Officers – Promotions to the rank of Principal Secretary have been approved. However, official announcements have been withheld as transfers for officers in these batches are due, particularly for officers of the 2009 batch, six of whom are serving as collectors.
  • 2012 Batch – A total of 17 officers from the 2012 batch have been promoted to the Selection Grade, with several officers currently serving as Collectors, District Development Officers (DDOs), and Municipal Commissioners across various districts and cities.
  • 2016 Batch – 12 officers have been promoted to the Junior Administrative Grade.
  • 2021 Batch – 9 officers have been promoted to the Senior Time Scale.

This promotion reflects the state government’s continued effort to recognize the contributions and capabilities of its officers, while ensuring smooth administrative functioning across the state.
