In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle in Gujarat, the state government has reassigned senior IAS officers to key administrative positions, impacting the General Administration, Election, and Sports departments. The changes, announced through official notifications, mark a transition in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Gujarat while redistributing crucial governance responsibilities.
KEY LEADERSHIP CHANGES IN GUJARAT ADMINISTRATION
Hareet Shukla, IAS (RR:GJ:1999), who was serving as Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary to Government, General Administration Department (Election), has been transferred and appointed as Principal Secretary to Government, General Administration Department (ART & NRI), Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar.
He will, however, continue to hold additional charge as Principal Secretary to Government, Ports & Transport Department, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar, and as Director General of Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration(SPIPA), Ahmedabad, until further orders.
Meanwhile, as per an earlier notification issued by the Election Commission of India, Sandip Janardanpant Sagale, IAS (RR:GJ:2007), who was serving as Director General, Sports Authority of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat. He will also function as Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, General Administration Department (Election), succeeding Shukla.
In another related development, I.R. Vala, Secretary, Sports Authority of Gujarat, has been assigned additional charge of Director General, Sports Authority of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, following Sagale’s transfer.
The reshuffle reflects a strategic administrative realignment in Gujarat’s top bureaucratic ranks, particularly in election management and public administration.
