Gandhinagar: In a significant step to promote national unity, development, and empowerment in remote tribal regions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision continues to drive large-scale initiatives in Narmada district, Gujarat. The projects, aligned with the celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, aim to enhance infrastructure, education, and livelihoods in the area.
Padyatra Flagged Off to Commemorate Sardar Patel’s 150th Birth Anniversary
As part of the nationwide celebrations honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Sardar @150: Unity March” was officially flagged off from Karamsad to Kevadia by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The initiative seeks to rekindle Sardar Patel’s message of unity: “India belongs to all of us, and we belong to India. Our true progress lies in unity.”
The march highlights Patel’s role as the architect of an undivided India and the Iron Man of India while encouraging citizens to embrace patriotism, cooperation, and self-respect.
Statue of Unity Spurs Regional Development
The development of the Statue of Unity at Kevadia has transformed the region into a major tourist and economic hub. Accompanying infrastructure projects have brought essential services to remote tribal areas, including clean drinking water, electricity, educational facilities, and improved connectivity.
Gautambhai Patel, grandson of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, visited the tribal regions in Narmada district and expressed his admiration for the comprehensive initiatives undertaken under the Prime Minister’s leadership. He noted that villagers expressed happiness and satisfaction with the projects, which are significantly improving their quality of life.
Empowering Tribal Communities
The development initiatives have ensured that every household now receives clean Narmada River water and consistent electricity supply. Homes are now equipped with modern amenities such as fans, televisions, and other appliances, improving daily living conditions. Children in the region can access quality education locally, reducing the need for migration to cities.
A local woman guide highlighted the project’s various components, underscoring the efforts to create sustainable local opportunities. Plans are also underway to establish a university-level educational institution, allowing local youth to pursue higher education and job opportunities within their own communities.
A Model for Tribal Development
Gautambhai Patel remarked, “It is truly commendable to establish such a large-scale development project and engage so many people. The greatest reward is seeing the joy on the villagers’ faces. I am particularly pleased that the youth will now have opportunities for education and employment within their own villages.”
He expressed hope that these initiatives would steadily transform the lives of tribal communities and serve as a model of development for other regions in India.
