Who is IPS Alok Singh, ADG Kanpur: Leading By Example From Anti-Naxalite Operations to Noida’s Police Reforms

Mr. Alok Singh, a 1995 batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, currently serves as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Kanpur Zone. Known for his calm demeanor, strategic clarity, and unwavering integrity, Mr. Singh has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership in law enforcement across challenging terrains of Uttar Pradesh.

Recovering Stolen Weapons and Tackling Insurgency

In the early 2000s, Mr. Singh led a crucial counter-insurgency operation in Sonbhadra, a region affected by Naxalite activities. Under his direction, three area committees were disbanded and looted weapons were successfully recovered. His decisive actions earned him the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Gallantry in 2002, highlighting his commitment to public safety and operational excellence.

Academic Excellence and International Training

Mr. Singh’s academic credentials are as impressive as his policing record. He holds degrees in Physics, Mathematics, and Economics, alongside an MBA in Marketing and Finance. Enhancing his professional expertise, he has completed advanced training programs in Italy and at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, he actively mentors new IPS probationers, shaping the next generation of law enforcement leaders.

Pioneering Citizen-Oriented Policing in Noida

In 2020, Mr. Singh became the first Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), implementing the newly introduced commissionerate system. His tenure focused on creating a modern, responsive, and citizen-oriented policing framework in one of Uttar Pradesh’s fastest-growing urban hubs.

Crackdowns on Organized Crime and Terror Networks

Under Mr. Singh’s leadership, extensive operations against terrorism and criminal gangs have been carried out in Saharanpur, Kanpur, and surrounding districts. Notable achievements include the apprehension of an auto-lifting gang in Farrukhabad and Etawah, recovering 21 stolen motorcycles and weapons. Additionally, his zonal command arrested 127 individuals under the Goonda and Gangster Act across Auraiya, Jalaun, and Kanpur Dehat, seizing property valued at crores of rupees.

Through consistent action, visionary leadership, and dedication to citizen safety, Mr. Alok Singh exemplifies the evolving face of law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh. His contributions continue to set benchmarks for efficiency, integrity, and modern policing practices across the state.
