Chandigarh: The Haryana government has promoted five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the 2011 batch to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), marking a significant step toward enhancing the leadership and operational capacity of the state police. This decision comes shortly after the promotion of two senior IPS officers of the 1993 batch, Alok Mittal and Arshinder Singh Chawla, to the Director General of Police (DGP) rank, reflecting the government’s continued focus on strengthening the state’s law enforcement hierarchy.
Promoted Officers and Their Current Assignments
The officers elevated to DIG rank currently hold key positions across Haryana and in central deputation:
- Manisha Chaudhary – serving on central deputation with the Government of India.
- Abhishek Jorwal – posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Faridabad, overseeing urban policing and law enforcement initiatives.
- Rajendra Kumar Meena – serving as SP, Police Commando, Karnal, responsible for specialized operations and security management.
- Manbir Singh – posted at the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) Headquarters, handling rapid-response mechanisms for critical situations.
- Virendra Vij – serving as Commandant, First Indian Reserve Battalion, Bhaundsi, overseeing reserve forces and maintaining law and order in sensitive areas.
These promotions highlight the government’s intent to place experienced officers in strategic and operationally critical roles to ensure enhanced policing and administrative oversight.

The elevation of these officers from Superintendent of Police (SP) to DIG rank is expected to:
