Jammu: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has deputed eight senior IAS and IPS officers to Chashoti in Kishtwar district. They will supervise the relief and rescue operations following the recent cloudburst that caused significant devastation.
Senior Officers to Oversee Relief on Roster Basis
According to a government order, the officers will take charge of the operations on a roster system between August 19 and August 26. Their presence aims to ensure better coordination of rescue measures, restoration of essential services, and delivery of aid to the affected families.
Duty Roster Announced
The official schedule lays out the deployment as follows:
- August 19–20: Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary, Home Department, along with Uttam Chand, Inspector General of Police (Operations & Services).
- August 21–22: Anil Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department, and Sujit Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Security).
- August 23–24: Shaleen Kabra, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Jal Shakti Department, accompanied by M. Suleman Choudhary, Inspector General of Police (Traffic).
- August 25–26: Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary, Science & Technology Department, along with Vivek Gupta, Inspector General of Police (Railways).

By deputing senior IAS and IPS officers, the administration aims to maintain a high-level response in the disaster-hit region. Their involvement is expected to bring efficiency to relief efforts and instill confidence among the local population during this testing time.
