In a significant move to strengthen its vendor ecosystem and promote inclusive industrial growth, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) commemorated its 85th Foundation Day by organizing an MSME Conclave on Tuesday. The event attracted 140 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), underscoring the growing engagement between the state-owned shipbuilder and India’s vibrant MSME sector.
Focus on Vendor Participation and Ease of Doing Business
The conclave was designed to enhance vendor participation in HSL’s upcoming projects and service contracts. It served as a platform to showcase business opportunities, outline recent reforms under Ease and Speed of Doing Business, and encourage greater transparency in procurement practices. This initiative aligns with HSL’s strategic vision of enabling inclusive growth while fostering fair, transparent, and efficient vendor engagement.

Leadership Emphasizes Mutual Growth and Safety Standards
In his keynote address, Cmde Hemant Khatri (Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), HSL, reaffirmed the shipyard’s commitment to continuous engagement, mutual growth, and transparent operations. He also emphasized the critical importance of safety compliance and engineering best practices at all work sites. Moreover, welfare measures for contract workmen and the expansion of skill development initiatives were highlighted as key focus areas for the shipyard.
MSME Officials Highlight Government Support
A Srinu, Assistant Director, MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO), Visakhapatnam, also addressed the conclave. He spoke on various central government initiatives supporting MSMEs and encouraged entrepreneurs to make the most of available support systems and incentives for scaling their operations.

The event featured interactive sessions where vendors voiced their concerns, participated in collaborative discussions, and explored partnership avenues with HSL. The conclave reaffirmed HSL’s commitment to building long-term, win-win partnerships with MSMEs, reinforcing its role as an inclusive and forward-thinking public sector enterprise.
