Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), a Vedanta Group company, reported a 34.5% rise in consolidated net profit for the quarter ending September 30, 2024, reaching ₹2,327 crore. This represents a significant growth compared to the ₹1,729 crore profit in the same period last year. The increase was largely driven by a rise in total income, which climbed to ₹8,522 crore from ₹7,014 crore in the year-ago period.
During the second quarter, HZL generated ₹6,403 crore from its zinc, lead, and other metal segments, while its silver division contributed ₹1,550 crore to the revenue. The company’s board also approved an investment of ₹327 crore for acquiring at least 26% equity in Serentica Renewable India Private Ltd (SRIPL) or its affiliates. SRIPL, established to implement renewable energy projects, will help meet Hindustan Zinc’s long-term power needs under a power delivery agreement.
As one of the world’s largest integrated zinc producers and the third-largest silver producer, Hindustan Zinc holds a commanding 75% share of the primary zinc market in India, supplying its products to over 40 countries.
