Hours after the Bombay High Court ordered a preliminary CBI investigation into former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh’s allegations against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, the latter resigned today citing ‘moral grounds’. The allegations were made by Singh after he was removed from the post of Mumbai Police Chief.
This is a major update in this case after the car full of explosives was found outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house in Mumbai. After the ruling of the Bombay High Court, Anil Deshmukh tendered his resignation letter which said, “I don’t have the moral right to continue in office after the court order. I have decided to quit. Kindly relieve me from my post”.
The resignation letter was handed over to Mumbai Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerey after Deshmukh got the go-ahead from NCP leader Sharad Pawar.
