HPCL Partners with IFSDMS for Advanced Live-Fire Training to Strengthen Industrial Safety

Specialized Training Program Equips HPCL Officers to Handle Emergencies at Critical Energy Facilities Across India

Mumbai: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has joined hands with the Institute of Fire, Safety & Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS) to enhance the emergency response skills of its officers through specialized live-fire training programs. The initiative aims to improve workplace safety and preparedness at critical energy facilities across India.

Partnership Formalized to Strengthen Safety Measures

The agreement was signed by Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, Executive Director – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) at HPCL, and Dharmendra Wakharikar, Chief Coordinator at IFSDMS, with Vikram Mahurkar, President of IFSDMS and Managing Director of Checkmate Group, present during the ceremony.

This collaboration will equip HPCL officers to handle high-risk industrial emergencies by combining classroom-based instruction with realistic live-fire simulations, ensuring faster and safer response in critical situations.

State-of-the-Art Training Facility Near Vadodara

The IFSDMS training center, located near Vadodara, spans 75 acres and features industrial mock-ups, including process units and LPG facilities. Participants undergo controlled live-fire drills replicating real-world emergency scenarios, giving them hands-on experience to manage large-scale industrial incidents safely and efficiently.

Enhancing Industrial Preparedness and Safety Culture

Through this partnership, HPCL seeks to:

  • Strengthen its safety culture across all operations
  • Improve emergency readiness for officers
  • Protect critical energy infrastructure
  • Ensure efficient management of industrial accidents while minimizing risks to personnel and assets
