Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has reaffirmed its dedication to community health through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at cancer prevention. Partnering with ESI Hospital and OMEGA Hospital, HSL conducted a Free Cancer Detection, HPV (Cervavac) Vaccination, and Community Sensitization Program at ESI Hospital, Malkapuram, Visakhapatnam.
The initiative, primarily targeting women and girls aged 14 to 40 years, focused on raising awareness and providing essential preventive healthcare services. Over 300 individuals underwent cancer screenings, while 200 women received the HPV vaccine to safeguard against cervical cancer.
The program was inaugurated by HSL’s Director (Shipbuilding), Capt. G. Venkateswarlu, in the presence of the Medical Superintendent of ESI Hospital, oncologists from OMEGA Hospital, D. Srinivasa Rao (General Manager of HSL), alongside other HSL officials and union representatives.
HSL’s Chairman & Managing Director (C&MD), Cmde Hemant Khatri, emphasized the company’s commitment to public health, aligning with the Government of India’s CSR policy. “At HSL, we aim not only to build ships but also to foster a healthier and more empowered society. This initiative, conducted in observance of International Women’s Day, highlights our dedication to the well-being of our community,” he stated.
Dr. Chandra Sekhar Reddy V, Chief Medical Officer of HSL, underscored the importance of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical cancer and called for sustained awareness and preventive measures.
