The Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of Secretary, Department of Revenue, to Mr. Ajay Seth (IAS). He is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on March 1, Mr. Seth will assume this responsibility following the relinquishment of charge by Mr. Tuhin Kanta Pandey (1987-batch IAS officer). He will hold the additional charge until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A 1987-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, Mr. Seth brings extensive experience in economic and financial policymaking. As Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, he has played a key role in shaping critical economic policies and reforms.
Holding a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, Mr. Seth has over three decades of expertise in public finance, tax policy, foreign investments, development financing, and public-private partnerships.
The Department of Revenue, under the Ministry of Finance, plays a crucial role in formulating tax policies, overseeing revenue administration, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. His leadership is expected to contribute to the department’s smooth functioning during this transition.
Mr. Pandey, who previously held the additional charge, has been instrumental in financial administration, particularly in asset monetization and public sector reforms.
