Chandigarh: The Punjab government has appointed 1996-batch IAS officer Ajoy Kumar Sinha as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). Sinha, who currently serves as the Principal Secretary of the Department of Power and holds an additional charge as Principal Secretary for New and Renewable Energy, will now oversee the power corporation’s operations.
The appointment comes after the term of the outgoing CMD, Baldev Singh Sra, ended following his retirement at the age of 65. While there were proposals to extend Sra’s tenure, sources confirmed that these plans did not materialize.
Sinha’s leadership role at PSPCL will be crucial as he manages the state’s power sector amidst ongoing challenges in energy supply and renewable energy integration.
