New Delhi: The Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to Mr Neeraj Mittal, IAS (TN:1992), who is currently serving as the Secretary, Department of Telecommunications under the Ministry of Communications.
This temporary arrangement will be in effect from June 2 to June 6, 2025, during the leave period of Mr S. Krishnan, IAS (TN:1989).
Neeraj Mittal’s Expansive Bureaucratic Background
Mr Mittal is a senior Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. Over the course of his career, he has held a range of high-level positions in both the state and central governments.
Notably–
- He served as Principal Secretary of Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu
- Former Managing Director & CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu, the investment promotion agency of the state
- Held a Senior Advisor role at the World Bank Group
- Served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India
His extensive experience in technology, investment promotion, and governance makes him well-suited for overseeing responsibilities at MeitY during this interim period.
Satyabrata Kumar Repatriated to Parent Cadre
In another key development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the curtailment of deputation of Satyabrata Kumar, IRS (C&IT:2004), currently serving as Special Director of Enforcement, Directorate of Enforcement.
He has been repatriated to his parent cadre, i.e., the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes), with immediate effect, following a proposal from the Department of Revenue.
