IAS officer Bhupinder Singh Bhalla has been appointed as the new chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), according to an official order issued on Friday. Currently posted as the additional chief secretary of Delhi, Bhupinder will succeed Dharmendra, a 1989-batch officer, as the civic body chairman.
The announcement comes just a day after the 22nd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, assumed charge. Furthermore, the new appointment also comes after the Centre recently completed the process to unify three MCDs under one Delhi Municipal Corporation.
