Amidst a recent development, the government of West Bengal ordered a major shake-up in the state administration. The Secretary of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, IAS officer Sanjay Bansal (2004 batch), has been ordered to take up the additional charge of the state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs (UD &MA) department and Managing Director of WBHIDCO (West Bengal Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation) by replacing senior bureaucrat Debashis Sen (1985 batch IAS).
The Principal Secretary of the UD & MA department, Officer Khalil Ahmed (1995 batch IAS), has been instructed to assume charge as the Principal Secretary of Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs department, replacing Mr. Bansal.
The Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment and Fisheries Department, IAS Roshni Sen (1993 batch), was mandated to assume charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of WBIDC (West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation). Ms. Neelam Meena (1998 batch IAS officer) was appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Consumer Affairs department after Ms. Sen was relieved of her duties as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Consumer Affairs department.
Abhinav Chandra (2001 batch IAS) was appointed the Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies & Wetland Management (IES&WM), replacing Ms. Neelam Meena.
