On Friday, the Central Government allowed senior IAS officer Sonmoni Borah’s premature repatriation to his parent cadre. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on February 9, the Competent Authority has authorized the Department of Land Resources’ application for Mr. Borah’s premature repatriation to his parent cadre to take advantage of promotion opportunities.
Mr. Borah is a Chhattisgarh cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1999 batch. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary at the Department of Land Resources of the Ministry of Rural Development.
He has held a number of key roles, including Secretary to the Governor of Chhattisgarh and Secretary, Department of Labour and Parliamentary Affairs. He has served as District Magistrate and Collector in the districts of Surguja, Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham, Raipur, and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. He was also in charge of UDAAN for the Primitive Tribe Children, a Chhattisgarh-based initiative that provided free English-medium education.
