IAS Sunil Kumar Gupta Re-appointed Secretary to Vice President of India For Second Term

His tenure was till 31st December, 2023, the date of his retirement. But now he has been given the extension

1987 batch senior IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, Mr Sunil Kumar Gupta has been given re-employment as Secretary to the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Mr Jagdeep Dhankhar.

He was supposed to retire on December 31, 2023, but now his tenure has been given extended.

He has been given this post on contract basis with effect from 01.01.2024, in the rank and pay of Secretary to Government of India, on co-terminus basis with the tenure of Hon’ble Vice President of India.

Before this, Mr Gupta was appointed as secretary to the vice president of India on 17th of August, 2022, for the first time. At that time, he was serving in his parent cadre in West Bengal. He has been working with Mr Dhankhar since he was governor of West Bengal .

Mr Jagdeep Dhankhar became the 14th and current vice president of India on 11th of August, 2022. Then Mr Gupta too was moved from West Bengal to Center, on the orders of Union government.
