Following a directive issued by the Election Commission of India, Mr. Bhushan Gagrani (1990 batch IAS) replaced Mr. Iqbal Singh Chahal (1989 batch IAS) as the Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). He was in the post for more than four years.
Other officers transferred from BMC are:
Mr. P Velrasu (2002 batch IAS), who was tasked with overseeing projects, was replaced by Mr. Abhijit Bangar (2008 batch IAS). Mr. Ashwini Bhide (1995 batch IAS), who administered the eastern suburbs and other departments, was replaced by Mr. Amit Saini (2007 batch IAS). Mr. Saurabh Rao (2003 batch IAS) was appointed the chief of Thane Municipal Corporation.
