The names of three IAS officers, Arvind Singh Hayanki, Radhika Jha, and Sachin Kurve, have been submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the position of Home Secretary in Uttarakhand.
However, in addition to the names provided by the state government, ECI may suggest the name of any other IAS officer.
Mr. Shailesh Bagauli was removed from his position as Home Secretary of Uttarakhand on Monday.
Previously, Home Secretaries from six states – Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand- were instructed to step down.
Furthermore, the secretary of the General Administrative Department of Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh were replaced.
This step reflects the Commission’s resolve and commitment to maintaining a level playing field and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, as emphasized by CEC Rajiv Kumar on numerous occasions, most recently during the press conference to announce the schedule for General Elections 2024.
