On March 12th, on recommendation by the government of West Bengal, Governor CV Anand Bose appointed the retired IAS officer, Ms. Mahua Banerjee, as the new Chairperson of the State Public Service Commission (PSC).
The post of PSC Chairperson lay vacant for a long time, resulting in the delayed recruitment of several government posts in the state through PSC. Even the interview for various state-level competitive examinations, including the WBCS and Judicial Service, stood halted due to the lack of a competent authority overseeing the institution.
Many government job aspirants are hopeful that with the appointment of Officer Banerjee, the lackadaisical recruitment processes would receive much-needed momentum.
