Who is IAS Navneet Pandey, the New DM of Champawat, Uttarakhand?

He will join in place of Narendra Singh Bhandari, an IAS officer of 2016 batch, who had resigned on July 25 to go to Harvard University, USA, to study international development studies

2015 batch IAS officer Navneet Pandey will be the new District Magistrate of Champawat, Uttarakhand. He will take over the responsibility of the 23rd District Magistrate of the district.

He was serving as the Director, Urban Development, Integrated Child Development Project.

It is worth mentioning here that Champawat district is the constituency of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and that is why everyone’s eye was on the appointment of the DM.

So after discussing for almost 15 days, the government finally issued the order for appointment of Mr. Navneet as the new DM of district.

Mr. Navneet will take place of Narendra Singh Bhandari, an IAS officer of 2016 batch, who had resigned from his responsibilities on July 25. Mr. Bhandari would go to the Harvard University, USA, to study international development studies. Since then, the post of DM was vacant. But, during this period ADM Hemant Kumar Verma was given additional charge of DM.

Mr. Navneet Pandey is a promoted IAS officer. He is a Uttarakhand PCS officer and promoted to the IAS rank. He has also previously held the responsibility of Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Almora district.

As a PCS officer, he has also served as the SDM of Purnagiri (Tanakpur) Tehsil from May 2006 to September 2007.

A post graduate in physics from St. Stephens College, Delhi, Mr. Navneet also holds MA in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics.

As a member of the first batch of Uttarakhand Civil Service (Executive Branch), he has served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate and Chief Development Officer for nearly 10 years in 7 districts of Uttarakhand.

He has also served as Additional Director, Urban Development/Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Uttrakhand and Additional Director of an ADB funded externally aided project. In his previous posting he was Assistant Director, LBSNAA, Mussoorie, before joining the Uttarakhand Academy of Administration as Joint Director (Administration) in September 2019.
