Dr. Pramod Kumar Meherda (IAS: 1997: OR), currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) for a period of six months.
The decision was made following an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday, February 10, 2025. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given ex-post facto approval for this arrangement, effective from January 15, 2025, or until a regular incumbent is appointed to the post, whichever comes earlier.
Dr. Meherda, with his extensive experience, will be tasked with leading the NRAA in its mission to enhance agricultural productivity in rainfed areas, focusing on sustainable practices to improve the livelihoods of farmers in these regions.
