1990 batch IAS officer Sanjay Kumar of Bihar cadre, who is currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, has been entrusted with an additional significant responsibility. In an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Mr. Kumar has been appointed to the position of Secretary for the Department of Higher Education.
This decision to assign him this additional charge was approved by the competent authority. The additional responsibility is set to take effect from October 21, 2023, and it will extend through November 29, 2023. The need for this additional assignment arised from the temporary absence on leave of Sanjay Murthy (LAS:1989:HP). During this period. Sanjay Kumar will adeptly handle the responsibilities of both the Department of School Education & Literacy and the Department of Higher Education.
