Amaravati: The 1992 batch senior IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, Mr Shamsher Singh Rawat who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Special Chief Secretary in the General Administration Department (Services & HRM), Government of Andhra Pradesh. He takes over from Mukesh Kumar Meena (IAS: 1998), who held the charge in an additional capacity.
A seasoned administrator with over three decades of service, Mr Rawat has held key posts across departments including Social Welfare, Rural Development, Civil Supplies, Land Revenue, and Finance. Notably, he served as Secretary to the Government (Social Welfare) and as Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the Civil Supplies Corporation, where he played a pivotal role in shaping welfare and supply chain policies.
Mr Rawat has also been District Collector of Chittoor, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Commissioner in the Rural Development Department, reflecting his extensive grassroots and policy-level experience. His leadership in Minorities Welfare as Principal Secretary from 2016 to 2019 further highlights his diverse administrative contributions.
His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen governance and human resource management in Andhra Pradesh’s bureaucracy.
