New Delhi: Sushil Kumar Patel, a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Nagaland cadre, has been empanelled for appointment to the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre. The empanelment is for initial posting at the Joint Secretary level in the Government of India.
Patel’s empanelment marks a significant milestone in his administrative career, enabling him to take up senior policy and decision-making roles at the central level. Officers empanelled for Joint Secretary posts typically serve in various Union Ministries and are responsible for shaping national-level governance across sectors.
Ayush Goel Transferred to Punjab on Grounds of Marriage
In a separate development, Ayush Goel, a 2023-batch IAS officer originally allotted to the Kerala cadre, has been approved for inter-cadre transfer to the Punjab cadre. The decision was taken on the grounds of his marriage to IAS officer Ms Kritika Goyal, who is already serving in the Punjab cadre.
Inter-cadre transfers on grounds of marriage are permitted under rules framed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), provided both spouses are IAS officers and subject to approval by the respective state governments and the Centre.
This transfer will allow Goel and Goyal to serve in the same state, aligning their professional commitments with personal considerations, a policy aimed at encouraging work-life balance within the civil services.
